More than empty conversations filled with empty words

You’ve probably noticed that I haven’t blogged here in a long while. No? Oh. Well… that explains why I only get spam comments.

I don’t really have any sort of reason as to why I haven’t been blogging as much as I used to. I’m actually trying to think of a really eloquent way to excuse myself from this inexcusable behaviour of posting irregularly, but I just don’t have it in me right now. I could go on about how I “did this” and “learnt that” and “read something” and “there’s too many things to share that I need time to just compile my thoughts”. But I used that excuse before and I ended up starting several drafts and then just saving them to my hard drive. I could make an empty promise to post every so often even if I don’t feel like there’s anything to say, but we all know where that’ll take us.

Anyway, enough with the blabbing. I have a few things of maybe somewhat mediocre importance that I want to share right now.

1. Fully Sick Rapper

If you haven’t heard of this guy yet, then you are seriously living under some sort of gigantor boulder because as far as I know, he’s been all over the media recently.

Christiaan Van Vuuren has TB (tuberculosis) which is basically a lung infection caused by some nasty bacteria (well, as far as I know, that’s the case with Christiaan). He was sent to hospital after coughing up blood, and when he was diagnosed with TB, he was kept in quarantine until he recovered. When he was let out of hospital, they found that he had a more serious case of TB and was sent back into quarantine.

As a way to pass the time while in hospital, Christiaan created rap videos. I assume this video was what made him famous in the States:

Repost: Burning love

I was reading a recent blog by heidlesz earlier in which she re-posted an old blog from way back in 2007. This reminded me that I wanted to re-post some of my old Myspace blogs here on WordPress so that they could be, you know, exposed. So I looked through my old blogs to find something to post that somewhat reflected what’s going through my mind lately, and I found the perfect one. Here it is:

– –

“I loved you with a fire red – now it’s turning blue.”

The preceding set of words were actually lyrics from OneRepublic’s Apologize. I’m not poetic enough to come up with a line like that.

The first time I heard those lyrics, I wondered what it meant. There’s no such thing as a blue fire, right? Wrong. I learnt in Science all the way back in 2002 while in Year 7 that there are such thing as blue flames. I think it was during the first week of high school, and we were being taught how to use the Bunsen burner. I’m sure you’ve used one before. Our Science teacher at the time, Mr. Schenkel, taught us that when the small holes at the bottom of the Bunsen burner were open, the oxygen entering the spout caused the flame that erupted to be red. But, when the holes were closed, the lack of oxygen would induce a blue flame, with a temperature much hotter than the red flame.

So, why was Ryan Tedder singing about a love-fire that burned at a high temperature? He wasn’t. In light of the story of the OneRepublic song, he was, in fact, singing about his love for someone freezing over, or, in other words, dying. The colour red represents warmth, passion and excitement, while the colour blue represents gloom, bitterness and unfriendliness. Whoever he loved before broke his heart to a point where he just couldn’t love them anymore. (I don’t get people who say stuff like that. Love doesn’t turn on and off.)

I got quoted!

Tagging people in your notes when you complete a survey is probably effectively one of the most time consuming things that you could ever do on Facebook. If someone tags you, you’re going to want to read the whole survey ’cause you wanna know what it is they said about you. Then if you’re the type to do the survey yourself (as is customary when you’ve been tagged), you’re gonna tag all the people you mention, and then when they do the survey and tag you, you read their note, and you’re in this never ending cycle of note reading.

This was the case today. Abi tagged me in a note. I can’t remember anymore what I got tagged for. Maybe she just tagged me for no reason =P But I did the survey (I’m at uni and I was BORED), and then tagged several people, one of which was my lovely Jasmine. She completed the survey and tagged me, as well as quoted me.

28. WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO TELL SOMEONE HOW MUCH THEY MEAN TO YOU?

My answer:

Just straight up tell them. Why you gotta try and be eloquent and romantic for.

Jasmine’s answer:

“Just straight up tell them. Why you gotta try and be eloquent and romantic for” – danica sevilla
thats the perfect answer.
