Europe endures deep freeze

by Danica

I’m really out of touch with what’s going on around the world right now. Actually, I have been for a while. For the most part, I don’t even know what’s going on outside of my own suburb.

So apparently (I only say “apparently” because I had no clue about this stuff until about thirty minutes or so ago) there’s been some crazy snow weather going across Europe, resulting in extremely low temperatures (-38.1° C), public transport being shut down or delayed, entire cities being blanketed in snow and ice, and many, many deaths.

Sounds like crap, doesn’t it?

But what do I get out of all this? Some really nice photos.

Russians swim in a pool heated in sub-zero conditions.

I initially wanted only to share the above photo—it looks nice, doesn’t it?—but I did a little more research on the European snowstorm and found another.

A flock of sheep looks for grass in the snow in the northern Spanish Basque village of Orduna.

Today Yesterday (it’s past midnight now) everyone was complaining of the sudden heat we were experiencing here in Sydney (it’s been raining non-stop for the past two weeks), while London, for example, is experiencing highs of 1° C.

I should probably pay more attention to what’s going on around the world, huh.

Anyway, nothing really revelational in this post. I just wanted to share, is all.
